"Miss Emma was in bed"

In chapter 21, When Reverend Ambrose and others came to Miss Emma's house to tell her that her son Jefferson will be executed in April eighth. when she heard what they said, it was very hard for her and she went to bed to cry, because  the day and the time when the person that she loved, have to leave the world forever for something that he didn't do it.

But she wanted that Grant and Reverend Ambrose tried to make Jefferson understand that he was a human being. But Grant did not want to help Jefferson.Vivian then talk with Grant that he had to help Jefferson, because Miss Emma wants her son to die knowing that he is a human and not a hog, because if her son dies believing that he is a hog would be more hard for Miss Emma, Because she wants memories, memories of Jefferson standing like a man. Miss Emma know that she will be with him soon, but she wants memories for one day in the earth.

I think it must be very hard to lose someone very dear, and I think it is harder when you know that person is innocent. To Miss Emma is very difficult to say goodbye to her child.Hopefully Grant and Rev. Ambrose  make Jefferson die like a man.So Miss Emma can have peace knowing that her son died as a man.

"The Sheriff said that the execution will be on April eighth "

In chaptor 20, Henri Pichot send Mr. Farrel to the school, to tell him that he have to go to Pichot house's.When Grant came to the house Reverend Ambrose was there too, and they wait a few minutes for the sheriff. When the sheriff arrived, they have to go to the front of the house.Grant fuigured that what the sheriff had to say was not going to take very long.                                                                          Then, the sheriff said that in April aighth will be the executin. Grant said why that date and the sheriff said that because it might not go well to have two executions just before the beginning of Lent. Grant did not want to go to talk with Miss Emma, because it will be so difficult for Miss Emma. Then Grant  went to walk and think what he would do.

I believe that this situation had been hard for Grant, and I think it is more hard now, because the sheriff told him that the execution will be on April. When I read this chapter I began to think that just as Jefferson was in the jail for something that he didn't.If we apply this to real life I think in the prisons may have prisoners who are inosentes, and they accuse them of something bad just because they were in the wrong place and in the wrong time.

"Grant's first visit alone without Miss Emma"

In Chapter 11, In this chapter was when Grant went to visit Jefferson for first time alone, without Miss Emma.Grant brought him food as he always wore, Miss Emma always make his favorite food, but Jefferson never ate the food they brought him. When Grant came to the cell he said he had taken the food that he enjoyed it, but Jefferson did not answer anything.
Grant was still talking, but Jefferson didn't answer anything.

Jefferson finally responded by saying that if he had brought corn, because that was what the hog ate.Grant told Jefferson that he was not a hog.Jefferson said that he was going to show him how a old hog eats.Jefferson knelt and began to eat into the bag without using his hands, to show Grant how a hog ate.But he said to him that he was not a hog, he is a human.and Grant also told to do it for her godmother, because she loved him and she was suffering because he believed that he was a hog.

When I read this chapter, It surprised me much, because Grant was doing a lot to make him understand that he was not a hog.I believe that this visit was painful for Grant, because Jefferson did not understand anything he wanted it stopped bothering him.I do not have liked being in the place of Grant because I think it is quite difficult to make a person understand that is a  human being and I Think that is more difficult for a person that is about to die in the electric chair.I think if I had been there I would quit this job, because it is so difficult to make a person understand that he is not a hog.

"Miss Emma want to talk with Henri Pichot"

When I started reading this book I thought it would be boring, but as I was reading it I found that it is a very interesting book.in chapter 2, we can understand how upset his Godmother was, because the lawyer had called Jefferson hog. Then she wanted someone to help him to understand that he was not a hog. She want someone to make him understand that he is a human being. Miss Emma would like that person to be Grant, because he was his teacher and she is hopeful that he will help him to recognize that he is a man, not a hog.

So Miss Emma seeks the help of Henri Pichot, because she was saying that he could help them by talking with the officer, so they were able to visit Jefferson in jail.Miss Emma wanted to do many things to help Jefferson, but she could not do anything because she was very old and it was very difficult for her to see Jefferson in that jail.I think for a loved one it must be very difficult to see the person that you love in jail.

When I was reading this chapter I remembered that I saw the movie of "Death Man Walking," and I remember when the father of the Catholic Church told Sister Helen Prejean that she has to go to the jail and help Matthew Poncelet.and Sister Helen did what the father said, she went to jail and helped Matthew to recognize that he was guilty, and she also helped him to find the strength he needed to die in peace with his conscience. This movie and this book we are reading are very similar because the two men were sentenced to death. But the difference is that Jefferson is not guilty of what he is accused and Matthew  was guilty of what they accused him.
